Getting your own seagulls.org.uk Email Address
How do I get my email address? Then email Claire Bradford - claire@seagulls.org.uk with your desired username and please send me a password too.
Is the email account free?
Yes the account is free. The server is provided by Knowtion Ltd and is on trial, we want to test this server by running email and the Seagulls list on it. As far as we are aware email will remain free.
What kind of email system is it?
The seagulls.org.uk email is handled by its own POP3/IMAP and SMTP servers. There is no web mail interface as of yet, although if we ever do have this, both services are on offer, you will not be forced to use either. You can send and receive email using the POP3/IMAP and SMTP servers. SMTP is optional, you may want to send via your own ISP.
How do I use the new address?
Once I have set your account up I will send you an email with a text file outlining how to use the new system. I will most probably get round to adding this text file to the web site at some point.
Can I get a seagulls.org.uk address but have it redirected to my regular email address?
Yes. Just pick an email name of first.last@seagulls.org.uk or nickname@seagulls.org.uk, you don't need to pick a password. Email it to me (Claire) at the above address. Please include your email address that you would like email to be redirected to. Note that if you do it this way you will not be able to send email using the seagulls POP3 and SMTP servers, it will go through your regular ISP. However you may be able to configure your email client to set the return address to be that of your seagulls.org.uk address.
